Finalizing on Animation

    It is now our last week and some of us have completed our quota of animated shots, are currently working on our last shots, or are making last-minute polishes on our shots, based on our supervisor's notes. I happen to be in all areas of the above. My final shot is BDR110, which displays the kidnapping of the daughter, and the only one to show the Villain.


At this point, I'm awaiting any notes for this shot.

Other than that, I have received supervisor notes on my previous shots like VTY100 and this was the latest result of such. 


Production wise, we have one more shot to be completed and we're seeing great progess on that from our good animator, Kevin. As we near the closing of this chapter, I also write a great thanks to our volunteer animators and rigger, Kevin Nguyen, Francesca Nassir Noguera, and Steven Chao, Alisa and I did our fair share of animation but we couldn't have done it without them. Thank you, Everyone!

Intro to me and the Project

 One of our main characters in this animated shot is a mysterious superhero with this outfit and I am in charge of the 3D modeling for this. At first, our outfit included a scarf, which made a fun challenge for me to make. This is as far as I got with that before the change. Since the change, things weren't necessarily easier but sure different and good. What I thought was interesting was modeling out the collar and the foldouts in the vest and coat. As you can see I made plane models, shaped them out and attached to the clothes when it was ready. This is as far as I've gotten.

Where I haven't gone before

This week has had a little more time consumption due to reviews and long meetings and an important event I had to attend. Nevertheless I got some things done, even things I haven't ventured before. Rigging     We've started with a small group so some of us shared duties. I have a little experience with rigging so as soon as my director asked, I rigged a small prop for her; the Band-Aid. The joints on the left side were mirrored but I didn't think to orient them so rotating them in this video wasn't so convenient ata first.     Eventually I came around to fixing this up, along with the director's request of removing some joint controls to simplify. Animation     For this department I had a big discussion with my director on how I was to animate my shots. New Models & Shots

      At last the Superhero model is officially finished and moved to the texture chapter. After some advice from our look development mentor, Michele Ahn, we might polish up the the fabric texture of the coat, specifically the gold lining to actually look golden.     As for other models, I used a placeholder texture on the bandage model. Our rigger to set up the band-aid to bend and place on the daughrer character's finger is a little MIA but in the meantime, I can use this in one of my new animation shots.     One new model I was assigned to was the broom and dustpan for the same animation shot and a few after. My director has proposed I use strands on the bottom of the broom instead of a smooth surface. Fortunately we learned a new trick from our Look Dev mentor using a plugin called MASH available on Maya.
